The huge amount of love and adoration, received by fantasy books, has motivated a large number of authors to write Fantasy books. Fantasy books are written keeping children in mind. But as they also seem to have grabbed attention from teens and young adults, there is a whole range of fantasy books.
So, let us first try to understand the theme of the book when one says - 'it's a fantasy book'.

Fantasy is a genre of speculative fiction. Speculative fiction includes elements that do not exist in reality. It covers various themes in the context of supernatural, futurism and other imaginative realms. Since long, fantasy has also been seen in movies, television programmes, video games, anime and art. In simple words, fantasy stories contain magical elements. Magic, people who practice magic (witches, sorcerers), and magical creatures (plants, animals like centaurs, phoenix, hobbit) are common in the world of fantasy.

Fantasy is further classified into many categories. Fairy tales, historical fantasy, comic fantasy, romantic fantasy are a few to name. Fantasy books are read by people of all ages- fairy tales are read out to our little princesses and stories of evil dragons to little heroes. Books that have their own magical world receive love from teenagers and young adults. Whereas, some graphic novels with a tint of fantasy are adorned by adults.
Some well-known fantasy books are Harry Potter books by J.K.Rowling, Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and Shadow Life by Hiromi Goto.
